Design Trends for Spring 2016 | BlueStar

April 14, 2016:

This spring, it does not seem to make a difference if we are discussing clothes, furniture, accessories or even appliances, we have seen a warm embrace of the two very calming Pantone® Colors of the Year, Serenity and Rose Quartz.  These two colors bring an individualistic flair by themselves, but together they connect in a way that only the warmth of pink tones and the calming of serenity can.  Pantone made the choice as what they felt was an important counter to the “current restless and hectic lives people are living right now.”  With so much going on in the world around us, it is important to remember to find balance and mediation in what we surround ourselves with.  We have the ability to use  the colors we choose to surround ourselves to remember to keep calm even on the busiest days or in the most stressful times.

In our first stop on this trip through spring of 2016 biggest embraces of these two gorgeous colors, we are going to take a look into how the interior design world has taken on Serenity and Rose Quartz.

Fashion design is not the only place we have seen a major increase in use of these two colors.  Interior and kitchen design has also embraced Rose Quartz and Serenity.  Adding Pantone’s Colors of the Year to your home will create a calming effect which may be exactly what you’ll need after a stressful day at work.  The great thing with these two colors is the ability to use these colors both alone, as well as together, to create the conservative atmosphere you are looking for.  These colors would best translate into day rooms and generally small spaces, creating the impression of a larger space.  Another great use of these two calming colors is to add them to one of the busiest rooms of the house to help find peace, the kitchen.  BlueStar® brings Serenity and Rose Quartz to life by offering them as options on our full line of appliances including refrigeration, gas ranges, wall ovens and ventilation hoods.  BlueStar®, thanks to its customization ability, offers a new side of kitchen design by allowing to use these two great colors in your kitchen without even needing to pick up a paintbrush.

In relation to fashion design, the official press release from Pantone®, Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director, had this to say: “In many parts of the world we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design.  This more unilateral approach to color is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity, the consumers’ increased comfort with using color as a form of expression which includes a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged, and an open exchange of digital information that has opened our eyes to different approaches to color usage.”  This has encouraged the concept that colors are for everyone with blurring the lines of what associations we should make with the opposite spectrum of blue vs. pink.  From the question of what accessories work best with these colors, many top designers recommend sterling silver to tie in with these colors!
