DESIGN EXPERT SAYS COLORS IN APPLIANCES ADD SIZZLE TO HOME KITCHENS

(Reading, PA – June 7, 2012) – What are the hottest colors in kitchen ranges right now?  Would it surprise you to find out that according to BlueStar™, known for its chef-quality, high-performing residential ranges, Ruby Red is this year’s hottest color?  Or that light pink, ultramarine blue and even violet purple have found a home in the kitchens of some of the most discriminating and prolific home chefs?  BlueStar is in a unique position to know: it is the only manufacturer of gas cooking appliances to offer more than 190 different colors – as well as made-to-order customizable colors.

Award-winning chef Marcus Samuelsson has an infused copper BlueStar in his home kitchen, while acclaimed chef Jose Garces favors his own Cobalt Blue 36″ BlueStar range with a griddle.  Color is making a splash in kitchens for people who not only take cooking seriously, but who want to make a personal design statement in the most treasured and active area of the house.

“Design and function are becoming equally important to the serious home chef.  Once content with the institutional look of a product that wore its workhorse qualities on its sleeve, people are now relying on the range as the focal point of the kitchen, which if you love to cook, it certainly is,” said Mike Trapp, president, Prizer Painter Stove Works, Inc., the maker of BlueStar.

While refrigerators tend to be covered up with wood panels, the range has become the last bastion of design in appliances.  BlueStar’s unparalleled 190 color options make this easy.  People are discovering that small bursts of color can make a kitchen pop, and there’s no more predominant accent than a range, according to kitchen designer Georgia Tanajewski, CKD, CAPS, owner – oneIIone Studio in Atlanta, GA.

“Pops of color introduce flavor without a full scale commitment to a single, bold color.  A colored range can work independently as a ‘statement piece’ or as a subtle backdrop allowing cabinets to take center state,” said Ms. Tanajewski.  “In addition to ranges, people are introducing color accents by adding distinct hues inside kitchen cabinets or using an open shelf concept to showcase decorative pieces.  Another trend is an inclination toward matte, rather than high-gloss finishes, just like the BlueStar Jet Black range.”

BlueStar lets anyone unleash his inner designer with ranges, wall ovens and hoods in a huge variety of colors to complement any kitchen decor.  Each range is fully customizable with an almost infinite combination of burner configurations, colors and sizes.  An interactive website tool, ‘Build Your Own BlueStar’, allows consumers to customize a new BlueStar range – from the intensity of the burners to the color of the knobs and the range itself – before buying.
