The first BlueStar Design Contest Winner took home the grand prize by utilizing an industrial style which is currently trending as well as a classic blending of black and white throughout the winning kitchen. Celebrity Designer and BlueStar Design Contest Judge, Eric Cohler, shared his thoughts with emphasizing the aspect of color use! “Being a neutral, black is never, not in style, but it is enjoying a rebirth, especially matte black the kitchen. It is extremely versatile, so that it can be incredibly dramatic or serve as an accent against a white palette — another neutral that is in vogue now as well.” As for the industrial feel to the design, it was based off of the kitchen owner’s love of cooking, especially with the high powered 25K BTU burners BlueStar offers! With Pantone’s major announcement this year, choosing not one but two colors of the year, Rose Quartz and Serenity as well as Benjamin Moore releasing their color of the year, Simply White, you can be sure to expect many kitchen designs coming out this year to be bright with accents of fun colors in more modern designs.
