Chesapeake Retreat
The Eastern Shore Kitchen project, designed by Amanda Chando of Design and Details, is a stunning blend of custom elements and historical charm, creating a space perfect for a waterfront retreat. The home was built in the 60s in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright, which invigorates the desire to relax with family and friends, both indoors and out. There is naturally a lot of thoughtful, quirky character in this home that the design team wanted to incorporate into the updated kitchen design. The open floor plan directs attention to expansive water views, complemented by a mix of original stone walls, tall glass, and a unique spiral staircase. The color palette, inspired by the Wren-style cabinets, includes a gorgeous stone, subtle backsplash, warm metal finishes, and a durable quartzite countertop, all tied together with a bold wallpaper. The star of the kitchen is a BlueStar 48” Platinum Range, custom color matched to Farrow & Ball’s Tanner Brown. Selecting a warm brown for the base color helped the range be the focal point of the kitchen while blending seamlessly with the surrounding cabinetry and design. Brushed brass trim accents from the range tie in with the rest of the kitchen, seen across the cabinet hardware, faucet, and lighting accents.
