January 6, 2017
Blandon, PA, January 6 – BlueStar®, manufacturer of hand-crafted, high-performance appliances for the home kitchen is proud to announce that its new Built-in Refrigerator has been honored with a 2016 GOOD DESIGN™ Award. This prestigious award emphasizes quality design of the highest form, function and aesthetic.
The GOOD DESIGN™ Award is conferred annually by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design together with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. The Museum received several thousand entries in 2016 from companies in over 55 countries. This year marked the most significant year for GOOD DESIGN™ with the world’s critical mass of FORTUNE 500 companies and the world’s foremost design firms participating.
Recognized as one of the most innovative and cutting-edge product designs around the world in 2016, the BlueStar® Built-in Refrigerator offers a seriously fresh take on premium food preservation that redefines the art of cooling. Every aspect of the design has been carefully considered, from the stainless steel interiors to the versatile color and metal trim options.
The BlueStar® Built-in Refrigerator offers unique features for the home chef and enthusiastic home entertainer. The Refrigerator features and innovative, commercial-style design with professional grade elements like durable 304 grade stainless steel interiors and stainless steel and glass shelves and drawers. There is a dual compressor system – one for the fridge and another for the freezer – for optimum food preservation and advanced odor control. The Refrigerator’s fully extending bottom shelf is designed to fit a full-size commercial sheet pan – as is the fridge shelf – that way, extra-large pans prepped with pastry or hors d’oeuvres can go straight from the refrigerator or freezer into an oversized BlueStar oven, another brand hallmark.
“Design, performance and innovation have been at the core of the BlueStar brand for well over 130 years,” said BlueStar® President Eliza Sheffield. “We are honored to be recognized with an award as prestigious as GOOD DESIGN for our commitment to superior product design in the kitchen appliance category.”
Known for its passionate following among professional and home chefs, BlueStar® has specialized in handcrafted gas ranges, cooktops, electric and gas wall ovens and kitchen ventilation hoods since 1880, all manufactured as its facility in Pennsylvania. The new built-in refrigeration line boasts the same superior craftsmanship, unsurpassed performance and stylized customization as the company’s legendary cooking equipment. Home chefs can create a true commercial-grade bespoke kitchen with professional level performance with a BlueStar® range, ventilation hood and now chef-inspired refrigeration. And, true to its tradition of manufacturing at home, BlueStar® is designing and building its refrigeration line in the U.S.
All winning designs for GOOD DESIGN™ 2016 are posted on the Museum’s website at www.chi-athenaeum.org and are published in the GOOD DESIGN™ Yearbook for 2016-2017.
